The Song that Changed Hip-Hop

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five- The Message
It's important to remember the first rappers that set the stage for the whole genre. Melle Mel released "The Message" in 1982, which became known as the first song to focus more on lyrics than the beat. People were really feeling this song, because they could relate to what Melle was talking about. In 2007, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five became the first hip-hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Props to those who keep the game fresh by changing it up and raising the bar.
